DesktopBSD is better and much easier to set up then PC-BSD,but anyway they are both great

I'd like to try out BSD sometime,but I don't know how to go about installing a GUI onto it. I'm an apple user and tried once via parallels but... I didn't understand the installing. Or does it come with a GUI?

You can try DesktopBSD or PC-BSD. They are more user-friendly distibutions/forks of FreeBSD.
